Settings explained
CS2 crosshair settings explained
Since the September 2026 update, sizes are pixels at the screen height stored in the code. A code carries these settings:
| Command | What it does | Values |
|---|---|---|
cl_crosshairstyle | Style: static cross, dynamic cross, dot only, circle and more | 0–9 |
cl_crosshair_length | Length of each line | 0–255 px |
cl_crosshair_thickness | Line thickness | 0–32 px |
cl_crosshair_gap | Distance from the centre to each line; can be negative | px |
cl_crosshairdot | Centre dot | 0 / 1 |
cl_crosshair_t | T style: hides the top line | 0 / 1 |
cl_crosshair_drawoutline | Outline: none, full or half | 0 / 1 / 2 |
cl_crosshaircolor_r/g/b | Colour as red, green, blue | 0–255 |
cl_crosshaircolor_a | Opacity | 0–255 |
cl_crosshair_recoil | Crosshair follows recoil | 0 / 1 |
cl_crosshair_screen_height | Screen height the sizes are for; CS2 rescales at other resolutions | e.g. 1080 |
What is the best CS2 crosshair?
The one you can see on every map without it covering heads. Of the 20 pros on CrosshairGen, 19 use the static cross, all use lines 4 px long or shorter, 17 have no centre dot and none uses an outline. 12 play green and 6 cyan, and 16 play at 1280×960 stretched. Start from a pro crosshair, then adjust length and gap in the generator until it feels right.
Old CSGO- code not working?
After the September 2026 update CS2 only imports codes that start with CS. Paste your old code into the crosshair migrator: it converts it at the resolution you played at, pixel for pixel.
FAQ
Questions
What is a CS2 crosshair code?
A share code that stores every crosshair setting in one string. Since 30 September 2026 codes start with CS, are 46 characters long and have no dashes. Import one under Settings → Crosshair/Scopes → Share or Import.
How do I copy a pro’s crosshair?
Open the pro’s page, click Copy new code and import it in CS2. Each pro code is converted at that player’s own resolution; CS2 rescales it if you play at a different one.
What is the best CS2 crosshair?
One you can see on every map that doesn’t cover targets. 19 of the 20 pros here use a small static cross with no outline. Try a few pro crosshairs, then fine-tune in the generator.
Why does my old CSGO- crosshair code not work?
The September 2026 update changed crosshair sizes to pixels and the code format to CS…. Old codes no longer import; convert yours in the crosshair migrator.
Do crosshair codes depend on resolution?
Yes. A new code stores the screen height its sizes were made for, and CS2 rescales it at other resolutions so it keeps its proportions.
Is CrosshairGen free and safe?
Yes. It’s free, needs no account and only produces share codes and standard console commands, the same as changing settings by hand. Everything runs in your browser.
Like CrosshairGen?
Buy me a coffee ☕
CrosshairGen is free, has no ads and collects nothing. Every time CS2 changes the crosshair, it gets updated. A coffee is what keeps that going.
